Urmston Bookshop and Schools

Urmston Bookshop is able to help and support local schools in a variety of different ways:-

  • Author Visits

The Urmston Bookshop loves nothing more than bringing authors to schools.  An author visit can help motivate children of all ages to read more and can bring about some inspirational creative writing.  We have developed some brilliant relationships with authors and their publishers so we can even find an author that suits the occasion, the school, the children and a specific theme if required.  Most of all, an author visit to your school can provide very real evidence that “Reading for Pleasure” is part of the school’s programme!

  •  School  Visits

We love to welcome children to Urmston Bookshop to talk about books, listen to stories or meet authors. If the walk is too far we will come to your school to talk about books in an assembly or to individual classes.

  •  Book Orders

We do our utmost to try and fulfil your orders quickly and within your budget and we also try to do this as much as we can for non-fiction and educational books. Obviously we will order specific titles but if you prefer, we will recommend titles that will suit your needs  and we can also put together topic boxes to support curriculum coverage.

Come to Urmston bookshop to look at our books or we can visit you at school to discuss your needs, and orders are delivered free. Remember Urmston Bookshop Book Vouchers make great prizes for writing competitions.

  • Reading Lists

We can help teachers with reading lists and also keep schools up to date with new titles.

  • Room Hire

The Urmston Bookshop has a room (with an interactive whiteboard) available for book related staff meetings and training. Refreshments will be provided!

  • Faith Schools

We can help with a range of RE curriculum resources, religious artefacts and end of year gifts.

  1. Hi Urmston Book Shop,
I am from Holy Family RC Primary School in Rochdale and we are very keen to make links with a bookshop to promote reading and we would love to be involved with some author visits. We are a deprived area in Rochdale and we are trying to give reading a huge boost. For all our children.
We would welcome any advice and support that you could give us.
    Many thanks
    Jacqueline Griffiths
